FAVORITE Dump Cake Recipe: (Dairy free dessert hints at end and gluten free tip). 16 oz. can pie filling (or fruit cocktail or canned fruit) 21 oz can crushed pineapple 1 box cake mix 6 oz butter or margarine nuts and shredded coconut if desired. ................................................ Grease 9x13 pan. Heat oven to 375. Spread 1 can of pie filling into bottom of pan. (We like strawberry and cherry). You can also use a can of Fruit cocktail or other fruit just drain off some of the juice. Spread 1 can of undrained crushed pineapple over the pie filling. Sprinkle the box of dry cake mix all over the top. (We use yellow, butter, or white cake mix). Pour 6oz melted butter or margarine or oil on top.
Do NOT stir.
Add 1/4 - 1/2 cup of chopped nuts and some shredded coconut if desired. Bake about 45 minutes until bubbly with some golden spots. YUUUMMMMM. If you are on a dairy free diet. Use a cake mix that has no milk. Many cake mixed today have no milk in the ingredients. For melted butter use margarine and/or oil. If you pour a little almond milk on top of the cake mix you can also decrease the oil.
If you are on a gluten free diet, try using canned fruit instead of the pie filling. If the canned fruit is not in syrup, you may want to sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar on top of the canned fruit before adding the pineapple, and use a gluten free cake mix. Have a delicious dessert today! (Some pie filling is made with cornstarch instead of flour for thickening and may be ok. You know the drill! Just check the ingredients!)
