Here's what we made during Hurricane Florence. We still had electricity, but we had the camp stove in reserve for this one-pot stew. It uses ingredients from the pantry that are canned, or frozen things you can use up from your freezer. The frozen hash-brown patties add lots of flavor!

#1 Chopped onions in pot with frozen hash-brown patties.

#2 Mixed veggies added to pot or Hurricane Stew.

#3 Chicken Broth added to Hurricane Stew by Lea BEall.

To reduce salt in above step, use 3 cubes or low salt broth.

Dumping the beans in without straining thickens the broth.

#5 canned chicken and canned ham prdct to add to soup.

an#6 canned ham product, diced into cubes on plate for stew.

This is similar to what some folks call Camp Soup.

Hope you enjoy making it and eating it. Nice to have something warm after my husband went out to tie our small cedar trees to the deck before they were uprooted by the wind! He was soaking wet even wearing a jacket.
