Homeschool Teachers, do you have a struggling speller? Here are some games that help kids learn to spell and let your spellers be kids! Let the kids turn their spelling words into crossword puzzles; Spell words with magnetic letters; Spell words with chalk on the sidewalk; Write words VERY large on a marking board and trace letters off with finger; Write words on index cards with markers and then cut into puzzle pieces; Have kids play hangman with each other; Write words on index cards and alphabetize; Write words out and trace boxes around letters to show tall letters and letters with tails; Trace letters in the sand; Roll out play dough 'worms' and shape them into letters; Spell out letters with stamps and ink; Draw out letters in cartoon style or an artsy style; Make up anagram with letters of a spelling word, using as many letters as possible; Learn to spell the word backwards! Highlight vowels in bright colors when practicing for the test; Write word in cursive on a straight line heavily in pencil then fold exactly on the line with word inside fold and trace and rub on outside of paper-- now unfold and turn word into a creature or bug (Crazy Word BUG)!
